High on Type is the act, the tool, and the trace. The brush, the ink and the gesture. The friendships and shared fascination. The community. The moment the ink touches the paper — the party and the after. We are a collective of artists, calligraphers, and designers united by a passion for the brush.
Founded in 2013, High on Type began as a shared curiosity for letters. Today, our members bring diverse skillsets — from master calligraphy, performance art, wall painting, installations to type design. Our philosophy embraces (im-)perfection, movement, slowing down and slight of hand.
The collective currently includes Guido de Boer, Hans Schuttenbeld, Ivo Brouwer, Julien Priez, and Vincent de Boer. Together, we celebrate letters to provoke, and inspire. High on Type is a state of mind.
